A Porterville man accused of opening fire on Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies during an attempted eviction was arrested late Thursday, authorities said.

Deputies tracked down Kenneth Bratton, 43, around 9:45 p.m. at a home in the 9000 block of Road 256 in Terra Bella, where he was taken into custody, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Bratton faces charges of attempted murder.
Earlier that day, deputies attempted to serve an eviction notice at a home in the 600 block of West Mulberry in Porterville when they discovered Bratton had an outstanding warrant, officials said.

A struggle broke out as deputies tried to detain him, and Bratton allegedly pulled out a gun and fired. No one was injured, and Bratton fled.
