Residents are gearing up for the beloved Big Fresno Fair, which has a new look atop its governing board.
“As the first American Sikh in this leadership position, I take pride in representing my community and contributing to the ongoing growth and influence of The Big Fresno Fair – a cherished tradition in the Central Valley.” — Big Fresno Fair Board President Gary Chahil
At the top of the board are Gary Chahil, president; Frank Flores, vice president; and Jerry Pacheco, secretary/treasurer. Chahil succeeds Terry Gonsalves as president.
“I am profoundly appreciative of the trust bestowed upon me by the governor’s office and my fellow Board members,” Chahil said in a news release.
“As the first American Sikh in this leadership position, I take pride in representing my community and contributing to the ongoing growth and influence of The Big Fresno Fair – a cherished tradition in the Central Valley.”
This Year’s Fair Is Oct. 1-12
This year’s edition of the fair is Oct. 1–12. The fair, founded in 1884, is the fifth largest in California and attracts more than 500,000 annually — making it the largest celebration in the central San Joaquin Valley.
“The board is dedicated to enhancing both the fair and fairgrounds for current and future generations,” said Christina Estrada, the fair’s CEO. “Our 2025 officers will lead with passion — strengthening community connections, elevating the fair experience and expanding our impact across the region. We’re grateful for their leadership and for the continued dedication of our entire Board in preserving this cherished tradition and vital gathering place.”
Other board members: Gonsalves, Linda Mae Balakian Hunsucker, Annalisa Perea, Chuck Riojas, and Larry Salinas.
